Finished Work: Seaflower Swim bikini designs

We're stuck in a heatwave here in The Netherlands. So this would be a perfect time to add some tropical vibes to the blog for now. Seaflower swim has launched their new swimwear collection this summer. Our cheetah spots have been one of our major sellers on fabric this year and we love seeing this print used on their two-piece bikinis.

We love a clever design and this brand has created a collection of reversible bikinis. All handmade. So when you have a pair, you actually buy two. Cute right? All right, this will be a short piece, it is so hot here in the studio so it's time to plan an escape and find some AC. Enjoy the waves. Have a great summer! If you'd like to find out all there is to know about licensing, visit our website for all info. If you'd like to chat please fill out the contact form and lets discuss what we can do for your brand too.

Made with Little Smilemakers Studio Fabric // December 2019

It is so exciting to see a finished project after working hard on a new collection of designs or a series of illustrations for our clients. But with finished fabric designs it is even a bigger surprise to see what customers create. To see how final products evolve when people put their own creative energy in there is amazing.

If you browse around on Etsy or Instagram for some kids fashion, pet accessories or home decoration you are very likely to stumble upon some Little Smilemakers prints. We sell lots of fabric and we love seeing what our customers are creating with our designs. Most creatives with small home-based businesses sell their projects via the internet and tag us via Instagram. So we see some amazing things pop up in our feed every month. We love how Little Smilemakers creations are the foundation for other peeps around the world to work with. We see them grow their businesses and some even start licensing our designs after a while. For this month's blogpost we've selected a bunch of small businesses that are specializing in headbands, hair accessories and bows. Just to bring something extra to your little one's outfit this Holiday Season. But we are not only sharing some pieces for little humans we of course also wanted to include every men's bestie: we also added some cute dog accessories so he can also wear something special for Christmas.

Cute Bird Kids
Did you wear bows or hair accessories when you were younger? I remember having one pink fluffy bow and I just looooved how I felt wearing it. Cute Bird Kids is all about fun, they even sell bows with confetti and glitter. I would’ve love to have one of those! For this month made with we selected our more toned down winter prints they have in stock. A checkered green basic. And our rusty copper design, which was used for bows and headbands. Wanna spoil your little girls? Browse around their shop, I am sure there’s something for your little one in there too.

Bloom Headbands
Haley is the owner of this online shop where she sells headbands and bows for babies & toddlers. These tiny creations are so adorable. And we love seeing those tiny models pop up in our feed. Haley has a great eye for modern & moody prints. She loves warm neutral colors and delicate prints. So for you stylish new mommies: she has a bunch of our neutrals & animal prints available. But for this months’ made with post we wanted to share the forest green crosses. A classic minimal design, perfect for Christmas! Check the shop for all prints & products.

Pawsome Paws Boutique
You might have seen some of the Pawsome Paws collars, leashes and harnesses that were made with our prints. This online dog accessories shop has so many awesome prezzies for your furry friends. But did you know Sophie also created these adorable little bows? For this Holiday season she has some cute winter themes available in her shop. The pink & red leopard is also a great gift with Valentine coming. We love her colorful choice of print designs and we’re excited to keep seeing them in her shop.

Modern Piggy
This company, run by Camille and Becky, specializes in girls hair accessories. They make the most adorable bows and hair ties. Modern Piggy is celebrating its 4th birthday. So another reason to add these hair ties to our festive Holiday season post. They have some animals prints of ours in their collection, but for their 4th birthday they selected our ochre balloons. How cute are these for your little girls birthday, right? You can find them in their shop.

Made with Little Smilemakers Studio Fabric // Top 5 May 2019

It is so exciting to see a finished project after working hard on a new collection of designs, or a series of illustrations for our clients. But with finished fabric designs it is even a bigger surprise to see what customers create. To see how final products evolve when people put their own creative energy in there is amazing.

If you browse around on Etsy or if you check Instagram for some kids fashion you are very likely to stumble upon some Little Smilemakers prints. Most creatives that use our fabrics have small home-based businesses and sell their projects online and tag us via Instagram. But there are also some bigger fish out they're using our Spoonflower designs for their business. So we see some amazing things pop up in our feed every month. We love how Little Smilemakers creations are the foundation for other creatives all around the world to work with. So here is our monthly blog post that features some creative results from Poland, the United States, UK and Canada. This month we selected a whole bunch of favorite fabrics turned into the most gorgeous items. Kids fashion, nursery accessories and home and interior decoration, so much to choose from! We have selected some cool pet accessories, dog leashes and cat collars, we selected some new nursery pieces and some other fashion items you’re going to love! Take a look and see if there is something for you too. Those dog items sure make a cool gift! Have a look and enjoy our May selection.

1 // Monsters and Co.
For this month ‘Made with Spoonflower fabric’ post, we selected two adorable on-trend bow-ties. Abby is a real animal nut and has 5adorable pets who inspired her to start her own business. She started out in her living room creating accessories for her own pets and it became an obsession. We love her colorful style and we wanted to feature some of the new animal prints she just launched on her website this month. We love how these fun bow-ties turned out. How cool are these for your pup? She also has some cool bandanas available that fit your cat. So cool! We’re excited to know there’s even more to come! All her items are made from eco-conscious fabric and handmade in London. Take a look into her shop for more fun pet pieces.

2 // Fog + Fern
Kristy was born and raised on Vancouver Island, this might be why her collections are so full of raw nature-inspired prints. She’s been using our fabric for a while now and we just saw her beautiful new cacti leggings pop up in our Instagram feed. We just had to share these beautiful images of this rusty color piece, showed by the most adorable little girls. Such wonderful images! The rusty color and the minty blue, sooooo satisfying! Wanna see more of Kristi’s creations? Check her website and see all leggings, onesies, tees, beanies and also adult apparel. Enjoy and leave a comment below and tell us what you think!

3 // Gray & Hound
We love Nyah's shop that’s based in Oregon. We love her outdoor adventurous style. Ever since she opened up her webshop things took off rapidly and we love seeing a small business grow. For her winter collection, she selected some of our most fave prints and we love how our foxes turned out on her trendy, high-quality products. So here is a little shout out to this wonderful shop for pup lovers. Wanna get your hands on one of her handmade doggie pieces? Looking for some on-trend dog leashes or score some cute dog collars, this is the place! Take a look in her shop, where she offers our most popular fox designs on her pet items.

4 // Poppy + Ted
We love the story of Paige, who started her webshop simply because she loves sewing and creating. Teddy is her model sidekick, the Frenchie part of the team, and her business was named after both her niece and this furry colleague/friend. Her dog accessories, leashes, collars, and harnesses have become a great hit and it is awesome to see her small business growing. Paige has a soft spot for animal prints and used a whole bunch of our leopard designs for her new spring/summer collection. She even matched her manicure with the new collection. Obviously, we needed to share her creations on our blog. Take a look on her website and enjoy her minimal, abstract inspired new collection.

5 // Kalamati
For five years we’ve been working with this awesome Polish baby nursery textiles brand. Violetta has a great eye for on-trend minimals and Scandinavian inspired abstracts. We love her steady stylish range of prints and this season she’ll be releasing 3 new Little Smilemakers designs she licensed for her business. The first one is our Rainbow designs, part of our Inky Texture series. It’s available in different color palettes, gender neutral or with a girly touch. We loved seeing the result of this collab come in. It’s always lovely to see the result after (not so) patiently waiting for months. Of course, we are super excited to see the other designs turned into nursery textiles and bedding as well. But we couldn’t resist sharing this one with you guys already. Wanna get your hands on these too? Check the Kalamati shop!

Rusty Pink Autumn // New surface pattern designs available for fabric & art licensing

Fall must be my fave time of the year. It is filled with small rituals and as an autumn child this colorful season is my personal fave. When you realize the last rays of sun have to be soaked up fully. You go for walks in the forest to see the leaves turn into bright autumn colors and feed yourself with inspiration and at the same time calm the mind.

The forest is filled with inspiration: acorns, chestnuts, berries, toadstools and leaves in all shapes and sizes. I love the autumn lights, harsh and bright, waking me up in the morning. Autumn, I love it. And it’s my fave time of the year to create new print designs. Inspired by more earthy tones. Every year around this time I create new designs for the autumn season and an exclusive presentation is sent out to our customers who have the first pick when it comes to licensing exclusive designs. But we also look at some old prints and turn them into autumn versions: we add new colors and new scales to our Spoonflower shop, create some cool new palettes.

This year we create the Rusty Pink collection. With typical woodland, wild life and forest themes but also some more on trend prints like the Llama design featured here. And this fall animal prints; leopards and panther designs are it. So we added some of those too. Combined with our abstract designs they make a very nice broad collection to create home decor, fashion pieces for your little ones but also some on trend items for your own more mature wardrobe. So much to choose from! Take a look into our Spoonflower shop and let us know what you think of this new palette.

Designs featured here are available for licensing and on fabric and wallpaper in our Spoonflower shop. Click on the titels to get redirected to our Spoonflower shop.

New Work // Halloween fabric collection

Fright night is coming! And we are preparing for a night filled with spook and yikes! We just had to add another batch of designs for this year's halloween. We added a series of skulls for both boys and girls. Some geometric halloween animals that are just to die for. Super cute as I may say to myself...

and of course some witches, vampires and scary shizzle is now up in our Spoonflower shop. If you would like to license some of these prints for your business just reach out and send us a quick message. Traditionally October 31 is the day to remember the dead. But nowadays it is a time to dress up and have fun. And we love to see what our fabric customers are creating this year. Fun pumpkin leggings, black cat dresses. We've seen some cool pupkin dog accessories pop up. So many cute creations made with our Little Smilemakers Spoonflower fabric.

And even though this holiday has turned into this crazy dress up party world wide, it is also a day to remember those that passed. Enjoy this joyful holiday, celebrate and remember the life of those whom have passed and left a mark in your life or have influenced your being. Happy Halloween!

New Work // Maxomorra Fall Collection 2018

This week new Maxomorra prints for their fall collection were launched. The new Plus Collection contains a range of on trend illustrated print designs. We license our prints to this Swedish organic kids clothing company for two years now and as you expect from us: the new collection contains fun, minimal and colorful new Little Smilemakers prints.

We already launched over 10 design the past two years and we especially loved the past two spring and summer designs. They have been a hit! And even though it is a hot summer day here in the studio, it is time to release some new fall designs. Time for new prints!

We can already show you these two hand drawn original Little Smilemakers designs. Our sweet bunny print, which has been a hot seller at Spoonflower for the past three years, and what do you think of this new vintage car design? Inspired by Maaike's own Fiat, she's a little nutty for that one. How much fun to see this cool vintage style car illustration on the new Maxomorra range! Curious to see the rest of the fall collection? Stay tuned if you are an animal lover. There is still more to come! Super excited to see all reactions on these first two designs. Leave a comment and let us know what you think!

It is that time of the year again. The holidays already seem ages ago and business is finally blooming like it should, it's not all about reindeers and christmas typography any more. New fresh things are happening. I love this time of the year when trading season starts and I can go on my annual trip to Frankfurt to meet up with clients and go on a "Little Smilemakers" design spotting mission.

This year the season starts with Europe's main textile fair in Frankfurt Messe. A huge fair about everyting-textile. These two days I will be out of the office, hopefully talking to lot's of inspring people and happy clients.
