Little Smilemakers Studio // 3 year anniversary

Another celebration in the studio today. Happy birthday Little Smilemakers Studio! I started Little Smilemakers Studio 3 years ago on a cold and rainy November day in 2011. Now three years later, after working long days, it is time to say goodbye to the first toddler years. We've been growing strong with a great client base and it is time to reflect on a great start.

In three years so much has happened. I quit my safe but non-inspirational office job in a design studio and it seems like ever since I decided to work as an independent designer life seems to have fallen in to place. This way of life fits like that favorite pear of jeans. I have the luxury doing what I love: making illustrations and surface patterns for clients all around the world. My work has never been so fulfilling and is completely different every day. I am able to travel. I always carry a camera, just to make little visual notes. These impressions are translated into my work. In my portfolio, my travels come together in illustrations and patterns inspired by all the places, moments, encounters, and colors that stimulate my creativity. It has been a great ride so far. I am looking forward to what is to come.

Father's day is coming up so it was about time to add some cool hipster daddy designs to Little Smilemakers postcard webshop at Kaartje2Go. New Volkswagen Bus, mustache and typography designs are up! So all dutchies can send out a sweet note to their dad or father in law.

Because there were so many requests on kids birthday invitations i have been working on some new ones for these little people as well. Baby announcments, kids birthday invitations will be available this week. So take a look and check all postcard collections.

Dutch winter seems to be never ending. It is snowing again. A good time to spend some creative hours in your kitchen making some delicious food!

Another series of illustrations, patterns and photo frames is now finished. All birthday themed artwork will be available soon via Kaartje2Go. So if you send out e personal photo card, decorate your card with these cute Little Smilemakers illustrations and photo borders. These series are also available for Valentine's day, Party invitations and as we speak we are working on some colorful Easter and spring themed designs.

Today it is monday! Starting with a big cup of coffee to start this brand new day. But it's not just the same old (never) boring Monday i am used to. It is our first Little Smilemakers Studio birthday! 365 days of making amazing designs and crazy joyful patterns for cool clients all over the world. No big plans or notes about big things happening in the future, nothing about big dreams and goals. No, just celebrating what is. Cause it's awesome, already a dream come true!
